Our Vision

Chawn Hill Church is all about bringing God’s story and your story together through Discovery, Discipleship and Declaration:

Discovering the love, purpose and presence of God;

Discipling to live God’s way in Christ, in the Word, in the Spirit, in Prayer, in the Church and in the Community;

Declaring the Good News through mission, worship and sharing the word.

Our Values

1. Intimate

  • We develop intimacy with God through love for the Bible, worship, prayer, and right living.
  • It is intimacy with God that inspires us to be inclusive, involved, inter-dependent and have positive impact.
  • We respect that people respond to God at different times and in different ways.

2. Inclusive

  • We strive to be as welcoming, generous and life-changing as Jesus Christ.
  • Because God is Love, we welcome all those we meet, whatever their story, beliefs or lifestyle (without undermining child-protection/ safeguarding requirements).
  • We receive enthusiastically the ministry of both women and men, young and old.

3. Intergenerational

  • Jesus calls us to reach out to the whole community and we look to draw alongside people whatever their age and stage of life: young, old, married, single, parents, students etc...
  • We recognise the value of a church of all ages and look to learn from each other.

4. Involved

  • Inspired by Jesus Christ, we strive to meet peoples’ physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs.
  • People are enabled to use their God-given gifts and talents to serve in and through the church and wider society.
  • Our involvement is demonstrated through regular participation in worship, prayer, giving, small groups and serving (volunteering).

5. Interdependent

  • We rejoice that relationships are at the heart of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and seek to live openly and honestly with one another.
  • We are just one of many vibrant churches in the wider Stourbridge area and celebrate being part of the 'body of Christ', uniting us with churches near and far.
  • We work in partnership with others, both Christian and other agencies, to bring about social and spiritual transformation in the wider Stourbridge area and in other parts of the UK and world.

6. Impact

  • Jesus made a big impact on people, spiritually, emotionally and physically. People from all walks of life experienced real change in their circumstances.
  • Today, we continue to pray for the Holy Spirit’s supernatural intervention, encourage each other to grow in our journey towards Christ, and strive to make a positive impact in the wider Stourbridge area and beyond.
  • Being good stewards of God’s earth and resources, we prioritise what makes most impact, whilst minimising our footprint.

Our Beliefs

  1. We believe God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and in all-places. God is Love - the source of all love of the purest kind - and looks to demonstrate His love in all situations.

  2. We believe the Bible tells the story of God, His people and the world He made. God calls us to immerse ourselves in His story, to meditate on and interpret it, and ultimately to live out that story today.

  3. We believe there is only one God who is the creator and sustainer of the whole universe and that creation is the expression of His love, creativity and power. God then gave all humans responsibility to look after and care for His creation.

  4. We believe the one God exists in relationship as three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Relationships matter because as ‘three in one’ God Himself exists in perfect relationship.

  5. We believe every person is unique, special to God and made in His image, full of potential and possibility. When God made humanity, He declared His delight in what He had made.

  6. We believe every human messes things up when we live our way, not God's way. This mess [sin] brings about pain, suffering and death on both personal and global levels. All relationships suffer because of this; with God, each other and the earth.

  7. We believe, to clear up humanity’s mess, God the Son miraculously became human in Jesus, born of Mary, and showed us what God is truly like and how to live. Through His life, sacrificial death and resurrection, Jesus defeated the power of evil, sin and death, offering us all to have a right relationship with God, each other and God’s Creation.

  8. We believe God sends His Spirit on us as followers of Jesus. His Spirit lives within us, makes us know we are His children, gives us spiritual gifts, shows us when we go wrong and makes being like Jesus possible.

  9. We believe the Church is the people of God drawn from many different traditions and denominations that God has commissioned to show His love to those in need, make disciples of Jesus, baptise those who believe and share communion.

  10. We believe there is more to come when Jesus returns as Judge and King of this world. When He comes again He will bring an end to all injustice, pain, suffering and death and renew the earth and heavens.

Black Country Food Bank

In 2006 Chawn Hill Church founded what has grown into Black Country Food Bank (now an independent charity) and actively supports this through Replenish, the Stourbridge town centre access point (now managed by Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Church, with support from churches across Stourbridge). Food Bank/ Replenish helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of three days emergency food supplies while a longer-term solution is developed. See how you can get involved.

Street Pastors

In 2009 Chawn Hill Church founded Stourbridge Street Pastors (now an independent charity). Its volunteers from churches across Stourbridge provide practical help and support for those who are out late at night, reassuring those who may feel vulnerable, helping to reduce the fear of crime, and providing a listening ear and genuine, non-judgmental pastoral support to those who need it. See how you can get involved.

Phase Trust

We deliver our community-based youth work (Ignite Clubs and The Loft) in partnership with Phase Trust.
