Exploring belief - Alpha

If you've got questions about spirituality, life and belief, try Alpha. Over 2 million people in the UK have!

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a low-pressure, fun and thought-provoking short series for people outside or on the fringe of church. It is a welcoming, non-judgmental exploration of Christianity.

People do Alpha for a variety of reasons: some want to investigate if God exists or question what happens after death; others want to discuss particular questions, understand other peoples' beliefs or explore the meaning of life.

Alpha takes place over 11 Tuesday evenings.

What happens at Alpha?

Each evening starts with a two-course meal and a chance to get to know others in your discussion group. There is then a thought-provoking introductory talk (c.20 mins), followed by discussion.
Alpha is free to attend (donations are invited towards the cost of the meals).

Each session covers a different question, such as:
* Is there more to life than this?
* Beyond Belief?
* Who is Jesus?
* Why did Jesus die?
* What about suffering and evil?
* How can I find healing and wholeness?
* Why and how do I read the Bible?
* Why and how do I pray?

When does the next Alpha series start?

For new Christians

Small groups

We believe that life change happens best in small groups. Time spent eating together, discussing, praying or serving alongside each other, all ensures the bigger we as a church become, the smaller we feel. Get involved in one of our small groups.

Dedications, weddings or funerals

We regularly support people at key life moments: the birth of a new child, their wedding, the death of a loved one.

You don't have to be a regular attender to get married, have your child dedicated, or to arrange a funeral with Chawn Hill Church. A frequent comment made to us at is, "If I went to church, Chawn Hill would be the kind of church I'd go to."
